Nationwide SD-WAN Deployment for Major Pharmacy Chain in Egypt

The project aimed to modernize the pharmacy’s WAN infrastructure by deploying a full SD-WAN architecture powered by VMware VeloCloud. Two main sites were built as High-Availability (HA) data centers with Edge 3810 appliances and GPX redundancy, ensuring business continuity and seamless traffic failover. More than 500 branch sites were connected nationwide using Edge 710 devices configured as spokes within a scalable hub-and-spoke topology. The design included a cloud-based Orchestrator and two Virtual Gateways, providing centralized visibility, policy control, and optimized application routing over multiple transport links. The new SD-WAN deployment enhanced application performance, reduced operational costs, and provided advanced security and dynamic path selection to guarantee reliable connectivity for critical healthcare services.
